Getting Started -- Welcome to CE6 (Faculty version)

Beginning with the Winter 2008 term, eCampus courses will no longer be taught using WebCT Campus Edition 4 (CE4). Instead, all eCampus courses will be taught using BlackBoard (formerly WebCT) Campus Edition 6 (CE6). Below are faculty resources for getting started and making the transition from CE4 to CE6.

How to Get Started
To get started on using CE6, please download the following instructions.

Opening Your "Real" Shell for the First Time
Once you get your "real" course shell for the upcoming term (and not a practice course shell), it is very easy to move the contents of the practice course shell to the "real" one. Directions on how to transfer the course materials can be found below.

How To Add Students
For the most part, faculty will no longer have to manually add students to their CE6 courses. Students must first add the course via MySJSU. Once the student is registered for the course via MySJSU, they will soon be added into the CE6 course shell. The CE6 system will add registered students on a daily basis once the semester begins.

Manual Add Process
We recommend that faculty allow the CE6 system to automatically add students to their courses. However, faculty can quickly add a student(s) into their CE6 course provided that the student is matriculated. Directions on how to quickly add a matriculated student can be found below.

Students that are not matriculated will register as Open University students. Since Open University students must wait for their registration to be processed, faculty can give a student a temporary guest account to log in with. The CE6 System automatically generates 3 guest accounts in each course shell to be used on temporary basis. To view these guest accounts, log into your course, select the Teach tab, then click on the Grade Book. The password for the guest account is: guest.
